Sermon Synchronizer Software
The future of preaching with notes is looking paperless! Now you can have your notes on the computer's LCD screen and display the graphics to a projector hooked to the laptop. Sermon Synchronizer brings this to reality now.
Sermon Synchronizer is custom software developed for Global Evangelism's Truth for Today, Hope for Tomorrow evangelistic series. By using the two monitor mode available in Windows XP along with PowerPoint 2003, we are now able to "teleprompt" and present from the same laptop computer. The sermon notes have been formatted with a large type to be easily read from a laptop screen and the Sermon Synchronizer program takes care of the details of displaying the notes on your laptop screen while the audience sees just the graphics on the projector.
In recent years, most laptop computers have been equipped with "Dualview" or two monitor mode. Typically when using a projector with a laptop computer, the projector merely shows what you see on the laptop screen. In this mode, whatever you display on your laptop screen is automatically displayed on the projector. But with two monitor mode, your computer allows you to put different images on the laptop screen and the external video port to which the projector attaches. By exploiting this technology, Sermon Synchronizer lets you use the laptop for two purposes: as a teleprompter for your sermon notes, and a source for the graphics you would normally show your audience.
To use Sermon Synch, you need to first enable dualview display mode. Complete instructions are available in the documentation for Sermon Synch.. Then you run the Sermon Synch program by double clicking the Global Evangelism sermons icon that was created on your desktop during installation. Then you choose the language of graphics to show the audience, and which language you want to preach from. Then you choose the topic and click a button to begin. Each time you click your mouse, you advance the notes and the graphics.
The advantages of using Sermon Synch over paper notes are:
-
More freedom. You don't have to stand at a lectern. You can move
around anywhere as long as you can see the laptop screen. If the laptop
screen is two small, you have the option of using a second computer with a
large monitor or second video projector turned toward the audience.
-
Easier to keep your place. You only see one screen at a time and don't
have to worry about loosing your place. The software automatically keeps
the graphics for the audience in synch with your notes.
-
Don't need special lighting for your notes. Especially useful in remote
locations or outdoors where lighting is difficult.
-
Notes can not blow away in the wind.
